Controversy Over Bettiah Raj Theft: Police Denies Record of Historic Robberies

Despite multiple registered cases, Bettiah police claim no thefts occurred at Bettiah Raj, raising questions over law enforcement transparency.
A startling revelation has emerged from Bettiah, where local police have denied any record of thefts at Bettiah Raj, despite multiple FIRs filed over the years. A social activist, using the Right to Information (RTI) Act, had sought details on the number of thefts reported in the historical palace. However, the Bettiah police responded on April 2, 2024, stating that no theft had been recorded.

This contradicts past reports indicating that property worth crores has either been stolen or gone missing from Bettiah Raj. One of the most infamous incidents dates back to the 1990s when a significant heist involving diamonds and other valuables was reported, allegedly the largest in Asia. Despite these records, the official police stance remains that no thefts have taken place.

The discrepancy between registered complaints and the police response has sparked controversy, leading to concerns over accountability and transparency in law enforcement. The issue remains under scrutiny as citizens seek clarity on the missing assets of Bettiah Raj.
